Negative emission technologies & what contribution biochar can make

In order to achieve the Paris climate targets, greenhouse gas emissions must be drastically reduced. In addition, carbon dioxide must be removed from the atmosphere and stored for the long term.

This is where so-called negative emission technologies come into play. One of these technologies is the so-called biomass pyrolysis, in which "biochar" can be obtained and the carbon can be stored for the long term.

Saskia Kühnhold-Pospischil from the Fraunhofer ISE Institute will give a brief overview of the carbon removal technologies and will allow participants to take part in a systemic view of efficiency, degree of maturity and profitability with a focus on Biochar.
