With increasing environmental awareness, the pressure on economic actors to take action also increases. However, this presupposes that companies are aware of the impact of their activities on the environment.

The start-up Klima.Metrix therefore wants to help make the CO2 footprint of companies and products transparent. To this end, the company has developed software for automatically calculating the carbon footprint. The software is fed with the existing product and operating data and determines according to recognized calculation standards such as Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard Scope 1 & 2, Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard Scope 3, Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Life Cycle Standard and DIN EN ISO 14064-1 , a very accurate carbon footprint.

In phase 1 of the pilot project with the next-incubator, the software was tested in the innovation area for the 2019 financial year. The aim is to validate this mission. In phase 2 of the pilot project, additional modules of the software will be used, which will create GHG balance sheets for the 2020 to 2021 financial years, and a possible use for industry-intensive B2B customers will be evaluated.

As a subsidiary of Energie Steiermark, the next-incubator has in-depth know-how in the field of energy efficiency. It is precisely with this expertise that the next-incubator accompanies the start-up klima.metrix in the implementation of the pilot project.
